Nice concept for a series, Richard. As a Portlander, it was also fun to see your pilot episode start with Laura Veirs, one of Portland's most beloved artists. The video of Alice is also YouTube gold and one of my favorites!
I look forward to reading where you take this series next.
Seeing the sad news today of Marianne Faithfull's passing I've been listening to a bunch of her music and it occurred to me that "Song For Nico" is a song by one female musician about another: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFhXL6FJjPs
Great concept for a series. It's the kind of thing i used to make playlists of... In one of those great coincidences, on Saturday i had a conversation with a bass player who took lessons privately from Carole Kaye and said she was an abrasive and rabidly right wing Republican, which dampened his respect for hereven though she taught him a lot about dampening the bass sound with foam under the strings on the bridge... a tangent perhaps but an interesting one i hope. I look forward to more.
Thanks, Tony. Shame to hear that about Carol Kaye. Yes, I make playlists for things like this too: songs about musicians, songs about songs, songs about all sorts of things. Sometimes they evolve into words about songs about things, which is what got this off the ground.

Thanks for reminding me of that one. So sad about Marianne Faithfull. I’ll be listening to her records in the coming days.

A very cool idea for a series; I'll be curious who else you feature.
